Jack Butel and his driver partner, Connor O’Brien earnt a respectful 6th in Class in the British GT Silverstone 500.
Jack took the wheel for the start of the race in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4S. Starting from P10 after qualifying Jack in the first few laps managed to 2 places to 8th overall in class.
The three hour race makes the British GT at Silverstone a great race for fans. One thing is certain, racing is never straight forward. After the first of three scheduled pit stops, Jack and Connor found themselves scrapping in a large group of cars, competing for space and race position. Both drivers showed good composure and maintained their race pace.
The final hour of the race saw the pit-stops come quick and fast. Jack managed to hold onto his 6th position before passing over the wheel to Connor, to bring the car home in 6th in class.
After the race Jack Butel commented;
“Qualification was an improvement but we both know (Connor and Jack) we can go faster. Starting off in 10th meant we were well positioned at we were focused on getting a clean start. I managed to gain a couple of places and that cemented our position in the race. Overall positive progress has been made by the Optimum team and I am looking forward to Donington in a couple of weeks. Hopefully we can make further improvements and begin challenging for the podium.”
