After toping the goalscoring charts in Regionalliga Sudwest with FSC Mainz 05 last season, Canadian striker Cecilia Way will play for SC Sand in the Womens Bundesliga 2.

Cecilia is excited about the opportunity to play with SC Sand and looking forward to stepping up to the next level.

“It’s great to be here with SC Sand. The players and staff have been very welcoming, and I’ve been very impressed with the quality of play during pre-season. It was always my goal to play in the 2nd Womens Bundesliga this season (2024/25) and I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I’m looking to forward to helping the team offensively and hopefully continue to score some goals.”

Cecilia Way signs for SC Sand

Assistant coach, Noah Veilandics was equally excited about adding Cecilia to the SC Sand Squad.

“Cecilia has already impressively demonstrated her skills as a striker in the regional league. With her physical presence and finishing ability, she will be a great asset to our attack.”

Sprint MG Football, Dave Knibbs was delighted to see Cecilia get the opportunity with SC Sand.

“Cecilia worked so hard last season and I’m delighted to see that her performances and goals have been rewarded with a new opportunity in the 2nd Womens Bundesliga. Cecilia will wear the Number 8 shirt for the 2024/25 campaign. SC Sand first match is away FSV Gutersloh 2009 on the 25 August and everyone at Sprint MG looks forward to watching her score more goals this coming season.
